HOWEVER, we also understand that our clients may have never crossed paths with a water damage or restoration project…as a matter of fact, we sure hope that they haven’t. God forbid anyone ever has to deal with a fire or water related loss. But if and when they do, Bigfoot is ready to step in and make the journey back to whole as quickly and safely as possible. One of the resources that we are happy to provide is that deep and thorough knowledge of what to understand and expect as we navigate together through the process, whether the situation is water damage or otherwise. Although we are always a phone call, text, or email away..we have compiled a brief list of typical questions that our clients may have. We are constantly updating this section…however no question is a bad question, so feel free to reach out if there is anything that you would like further clarification on.

Can Bigfoot test for mold at my property?

By design, Bigfoot does not perform mold testing. Although it would be very convenient, we feel that testing and performing the mitigation can be seen as a conflict of interests. If you have had experienced water damage that hasn’t properly been addressed, there is a chance you may have a mold issue. In this case, it’s best to call in a professional and we are happy to help facilitate the test from a reputable indoor environmental specialist. If and when they perform the test, we will work with them to discuss the findings and the proper protocol to mitigate the mold issue..if significant levels are found.

I only have a small amount of mold. Why can’t I just clean it up myself?

Technically, you can..and many people do…but this is incredibly hazardous..and could create multiple problems. When mold is disturbed, it releases millions of spores. Proper cleanup is critical, or you may be spreading the problem. You also must be certain you not only kill the mold but remove the cause of it’s growth. Visit the EPA site. You’ll want to make certain the job is done right and the only way to ensure this is to hire a certified professional.

I had water damage Denver everywhere, but I think I have it all dried up. Do I still need BigFoot Restoration & Repair?

Yes. Here is one of many truths about water: it will follow the path of least resistance…and it isn’t always entirely obvious what those paths are. Water damage Denver gets into wall and floor cavities, sub flooring and carpet backing. It often follows HVAC ducts, electrical wires, and other interior channels that may leave copious amounts of moisture in areas never even considered.  The water that goes undetected and untreated now could cause rot, mold, fungus and bacteria in a very short amount of time. Bigfoot has the technical and diagnostic tools to help you determine the reality and extent of your water situation. The water damage Denver may turn out to be minimal, or perhaps nothing at all, but you need and deserve the peace of mind to know for sure.

We had a minor fire. Several walls are covered with smoke. Can’t I just wipe them down?

Depending on what burned, it’s possible to do more harm by cleaning them. Call Bigfoot to assess damage before deciding how to approach the damage. There is much to be considered in even the smallest of fires or smoke damage. We want our clients to always consider health and safety, but also understand the proper methods of restoration and whether or not it is a DIY job or not. Case in point: Fires leave residues of acids, synthetics, pvc pipe, wood treatments. The smoke residue can also pit the metals in your house. Again, you deserve the peace of mind that everything done is with the present and future in mind. Read our blog article about removing soot from fabric.

Is a toilet overflow or a sewer back up really that big of a deal?

Yes, In the case of a sewer back up, ALWAYS. In the case of a toilet overflow, DEFINITELY if the bowl had any matter in it when it overflowed. Any situation classified at Category 2 or 3 water damage Denver should be taken very seriously. For both immediate and long term safety,  it would never be advisable for a novice to attempt mitigation of structural material or personal belongings.

How do I know if it’s worth it to file an insurance claim?

Put your trust in Bigfoot to help you determine the answer to this question. There are many things to consider, but most of the time the bottom line is cost. We are here to help assess the reality of loss, the associated costs, and provide our professional opinion for all of your questions.
