Logan, this is Mark with big foot restoration repair. We’re going to go over a few water damage, Denver jobs, what we had done in the previous weeks and what we did, how they came to us, uh, what mitigation process we used and kind of what happened in the end and product there and, and how it turned out. So this a tickler water job we got, we work with, um, a contractor who provides work. Um, they do some rebuilding and then we do mitigation forms. So, uh, it’s a pretty good relationship that we have with them. So we received a call that, uh, it was an apartment complex, three stories, and the bottom unit was complaining of breathing issues and, um, the carpet was wet in a corner. And so we had to come in and investigate kind of what, uh, on this particular water damage Denver job, what caused the leak or the water didn’t seem like it was too severe. So it leads us to believe that it’s more of a, a leak, a small drip, something like that. Um, not a large volume of water. So that’s what makes us think that, uh, it may be a small leak or something. So we would get out there, um, we

use our instruments there to determine where the water damage Denver leak was coming from and we, uh, kind of pinpointed it to a corner then outside they had their furnaces outside, um, in a closet. So we’d go outside and um, see that there’s moisture in that closet as well as a good portion of it has mold, um, which is a good indication that the water leak has been going on for a period of time. And then what we ended up finding out was there as a condenser line from the unit above them,

the air conditioning unit. And rather than having it drain a pipe going down to the ground itself, it just cut off right at the building. So as this drained, it drained down the side of the building and into this closet, which then was attached to their bedroom corner. And so it leaked inside the house. So they were able to get a couple of new lines on the condenser have that done correctly. Um, so we at least figured out on this particular water damage, Denver job, what was causing the leak. So that’s always one of the first things we’d like to do is certainly figure out let’s stop this leak. So we did that. But with mold, you know, it’s a little bit different process and what we need to do, um, had to determine

if there was a specify in the drywall. The drywall was wet. Um, not much but up. And so being that there was mold on the inside of that closet, we knew that the drywall inside was affected as well. So we had to run some tests on, on most, if not all the water damage Denver jobs we do, we have to test to make sure that the drywall doesn’t contain this Bestus. The flooring doesn’t contain asbestos. So we have to run a few tests before we can do anything. Um, in the meantime we’re able to at least set some equipment out. We want to try and start the drying process. So we’re able to put down a dehumidifier as well as an air scrubber. Kind of help clear up the air. You can’t, the only thing, he can’t use his air movers. So we couldn’t put those out or you can’t really cut any of the drywall. The pad was removed. Um, that’s safe to use. That doesn’t contain any asbestos or anything. So I came back fine on the test. So, um, fast forward to day two on this water damage Denver job. So we’re able to go back, uh, we’re gonna do, um,

some demolition, getting to remove some drywall in the outside closet as well as inside the building or inside the unit. And so we have to, in order to do that, anytime you’re dealing with mold, you have to set up a containment.

And so we did a kind of a corner of the room. We set up a containment. We still wouldn’t have access to the rooms, so we went, um, about two feet from what we’re going to be working and went from corner to corner, um, containing that area that we’re going to be working on, but still leaving access to the rest of the room for them. So with this water damage Denver job, we set up containment and then that allows us to go ahead and start doing some cutting. Taking a look behind the drywall tack strip was affected as well. So we removed some tax strip that showed signs of mold. Uh, the drywall you just cut up, uh, it was about two feet high and we cut up around this corner and you just kind of have to chase it back until, um, mold is something that’s visually so we can visually continue to cut until we just can’t see anymore of the mold.

Water Damage Denver | Losing Your Valuables Is Never Easy

So it, it actually ran quite a bit further along this wall than what we had thought. Um, so that’s definitely an that this leak had been going on. Now in Colorado, they weren’t running their air conditioning unit all the time, but um, it’s obvious to see that this occurred probably every summer for the last, you know, a year or so or two years. So this was a good amount of mold on this water damage Denver job. Then we had to chase back and remove it all. So once that’s done, we’re down to the studs. There were some insulation that got removed. We did the same on the

Mmm

storage unit as well. So we removed all the drywall on that as well.

Mmm.

So that was totally down to the studs as well as well as inside the unit. You could actually see from inside the unit into the closet, which was outside. So that’s how much we had to remove in order to remove all the mold on this water damage Denver job.

So once that’s occurred, we set up our equipment. The studs were still, um, showing moisture, so we had to dry these out in order to encapsulate, once they’re completely dry, we’re able to encapsulate it, um, seal off everything on that, on the structure and on the, the framing of the, the apartment there. So this water damage ever job was dried out. It took about four days out. It was pretty bad. I got it to where it’s registering dry and then we can encapsulate the framing. So on this water damage Denver job, we encapsulated it. Everything was dry. We have the drywallers coming in. Actually this week they’re going to just put new drywall, new installation, uh, texture it and paint it. And then we come back and do new pad.

We tucked the carpet and then clean everything. So carpet clean the room is what we’ll have to do on this particular water damage Denver job. So it’s a process. It’s a pretty intense, I mean, you just, it starts with just finding a little bit of moisture on the carpet just doesn’t feel right. And did I just spill a glass of water? It wasn’t that much on the carpet itself, but once you do more research and you’re able to kind of dig into things that can always expand like that. And I, anytime you have a leak like this over a period of time, it’s more times than not it’s going to have mold and the drywall and everything like that. So, um, we get a lot of these on different water damage. Denver jobs where the shower is, is leaking and you just don’t know about it. I’m behind the, the shower’s got a small drip just when you turn it on and, and so it, uh, we have something like that that occurs. So

this is very similar to that. Uh, this was actually a tenant in an apartment complex. So the owner, you know, just, you know, you get new tenants in there and they just think mad kinda has an odor to it. I guess that’s just kinda how it is. And so, um, a lot of times you just have to pay attention to your, your symptoms and, and see if you have watery, watery eyes or runny nose. Um, if you come home and you just, you just don’t feel right when you go into a certain room or stuff like that. These are all indications of he may have a headache or stuffy nose, not always runny nose, but sometimes stuffy nose. Um, but just, you know, you leave your unit or you leave your home and you feel fine, then you go back home and mad. Just don’t feel right when I come home or when I go in this basement area just doesn’t feel right. These are all signs of, um, that you can have a, there could be a leak in there, you know, some type of a water damage, Denver issue going on. So you have to pay attention to what your symptoms are and your, your, uh, signs

that’s your, your body’s telling you. And those are always good indications of,

Oh,

there might be an issue. And so then you can call the restoration company like big foot restoration and repair and we can do some more tests and figure out is there something wrong or if not, so, you know, the drywall, everything like that, hides, hides what’s behind those. And so, um, you know, a lot of times you’ll get into crawl spaces and stuff like that that may contain mold. Um, and you just don’t go down there. Often you don’t see it, but you just don’t feel right when you’re at home or when you’re in a basement. Um, sometimes it can be as little as a, they didn’t have an exhaust fan that should be running all the time. And these addicts are in the crawl spaces and they’re just not plugged in or they’re just not working. Uh, as soon as you turn that on, it makes a world of difference. So we’ve had a good share of those as well as a simple fix of that. Um, yeah, we had to mitigate a little bit of the mold. Um, but once you get into the correct exhaust fan going

in these crawl spaces and it, uh, it really keeps that air flowing and it’s not stagnant. Um, so those can be all issues are all things that can cause, um, to where you feel like you have, um, some type of mold within the house. So it’s not always right out there in the open where you can see it, but pay attention to your, your body and what it’s telling you. Um, and then call an expert out there

like big foot restoration or repair and we can come out and take a look and, and take care of you and make sure your home is safe. The way they build homes now it’s, they very, they make them really tight, airtight. Your home does breathe. Um, in a sense with air flow and stuff like that, but it’s tight as they are. It doesn’t, you know, the older homes didn’t, they weren’t as sealed or as tight as they are now. Um, and so you can get a lot of stagnant air, um, which then can lead to issues.

Mmm.

With mold or just breathing quality air quality in general. So with this particular water damage to ever job, we um, got a call. So from start to finish, um, our RN, the mitigation aspect of it, um, took us five days. One day was lost due to waiting to hear results from the asbestos test. And then the other four days we’re drying it out in the demo. Um, so we will be completed this week, so within less than two weeks, um, even though it’s a small portion like that, um, I guess square footage wise, it, it’s roughly about 40 square feet total of, of drywall that was removed. And, um, you know, as far as pad, maybe a 20 square feet of pad. So it’s a small job, but one that, uh, I know, um, they will breathe a lot better once they’re, once all this is put back together.

Um, they had complained this particular water damage, Denver job, these, these clients had, um, had complained about. It’s just not smelling right in there and stuff like that. So we knew, um, something was, was kinda going on and, and there certainly was. So we were happy to, to rectify that for them and, and make it safe for them even. Um, even though it was a small job, it was a, the first thing what we’d like to do as I stated previously on all of our water damage Denver jobs is to figure out what is causing, um, the ASL leak. And so figuring that out is always a nice thing to do right away. And this was a condenser line that wasn’t a lot of moisture, but man, it can do some damage there. So we, uh, mitigated that part of it or rectified that. So it’s, it’s great. So we had one happy client, um, finished him up this week and onto the next one. Thank you. If you have any other restoration concerns, don’t hesitate to call. Uh, big foot restoration repair. Thank you.
