Hi, this is Mark with Bigfoot restoration and repair, where we go over jobs we had done in the previous weeks and how we mitigated them and how we took care of everything. Um, this particular water damage Denver job that we had done about a week ago, um, is actually still going on. However we started it a week ago, uh, we received a call. I had said that the, uh, this individual, his clients, uh, kitchen floors starting a buckle, it’s a hardwood floor, um, starting to buckle and, and uh, they had called a plumber out, um, cause it seemed like it was coming from the dishwasher. And, um, sure enough there was a drainage line that was, had a small cut in it that was, um, slowly dripping. And so, um, they said they know this did, uh, about three weeks ago and then it seemed to just settle down and then it started up again.

So, um, it could go back as far as a month is what they’re anticipating or what they thought on this. Uh, water damage, timber job. So that’s always an area of concern. Anytime you have water that’s been dripping for a period of time and you just don’t know about those, they’re always, um, can be a possibility of mold forming. And so we went ahead and, uh, came out, did some readings. Uh, the hardwood was certainly buckled and would need to have to be removed, um, once removed a couple of planks. Uh, we generally with mold you in, in doing it as long as we have, you can, it has kind of a distinct odor to it. And, um, not that we’re a, certainly a human, a mold detector, but on this water damage Denver job, we, we stopped working and we knew we had to get a mold test brought in, um, a company that would come in and test for mold.

And so anytime you suspect mold, uh, the thing is to stop work in, have these tests done. So, um, we figured that that would be, um, the case being that it had leaked that long and um, kind of a slow leak like that on this water damage. Denver job, we decided to have a mold test done on this. So they came in and it did a test positive for mold. Um, also underneath the kitchen is a crawl space that also tested positive for mold, um, that there was dirt under there and in some of the framing was wet, but we didn’t physically see any mold. Uh, but they went ahead and tested it and that came back positive as well. So, uh, once we got those test results back, it’s a little bit different, uh, what we needed to do and um, on how we address these water damage, Deborah jobs when you do have mold and in a form like that.

So we went ahead and contained both these areas. So the kitchen, um, about a quarter of it is fairly large kitchen, about a quarter of it was contained. Um, and then we set up air scrubbers that will help on these water damage Denver jobs to filter out the air, make sure everything is cleaned. So generally the rule of thumb is, uh, we, we run these five days, um, and then we will do a post test once everything is done. So on this one, we set up a containment. We had to get in our PP, uh, protective gear and mask and everything like that in order to continue our demolition, which is what we needed to do. Um, so we went ahead and in demoed on this water damage, Denver job about, um, 45 square feet of hardwood. Uh, so we went and did that until we saw that it, uh, it just stopped being wet on that area.

And so we went ahead and continued to, to cut it. And like I said, it was about 45 square feet of hardwood. Uh, the sub floor had two types of sub floor and the top layer was pretty wet and damaged and starting to kind of deteriorate. So we went ahead and remove that one as well. So went ahead and did those. A demolition went downstairs, contained that area as well. Under the crawl space, we set up a, once we expose this, there’s still quite a bit of moisture that was there. So it’s about a 60%. Um, even on these slow leaks, it just, uh,

you know, each time you do your, your, your dishwashing there, it uh, it leaks more and more and um, I suspect the whole, generally what happens is these cracks just get larger and larger and um, eventually they conversed and then you really see the problem. But this one or two he was able to, to notice that the wood started to look a little bit different than what it had in the past. So this one didn’t rupture as much as some others we’ve had done. But this water damage, Denver job was still needing attention and still certainly needed to get dried out as well. So set up an air scrubber and a dehumidifier in both these areas, uh, in the kitchen and in the, uh, the crawl space downstairs. So the dehumidifiers will get pulled after three days. It’s pretty, um, pretty confident that everything would get dried out in that amount of time.

Air scrubbers on this water damage Denver job will be left for five days. I’m ensuring everything is safe and air quality is where it needs to be for the indoor environment. So when we do these tests, they will test, um, for mold, but they didn’t do a particular air quality test throughout the house. So once they come back, they will do that. There are certain levels that this needs to be at, um, in an indoor environment. And so we want to ensure that we get to that point. So this water damage, Denver job is actually getting picked up tomorrow, which is on a Monday. Um, and every, that will be our five day period. We went back on this water damage Tamar job and picked up the dehumidifiers on Friday and have this air scrubber running till Monday. So once that is all done, we’ll leave the containment up.

Um, they’re going to have to re-install the hardwood floor and this just keeps the dust just on that aspect of it to a minimum. Um, eventually that will get taken down and all the floor will have to get re sanded and refinished. So, um, that’s generally what we’ll need to get done on this. And times you will allow a lot more of the hardwood to be removed. But, um, just because you’re are limited on how many times you can sand and refinish. So, um, but this particular job was done, uh, just the, the part that was affected and then the insurance is going to pay for the portion of it that time was damaged, but all of it will get sanded and refinished. Um, so an overview of this, uh, water damage. Denver job was uh,

containment. Um, we had uh, two dehus two air scrubbers, um, got the elevation or that water damage Denver level back down to where it needs to be at about a 6% to 4% in some of the areas. Um, so once we, uh, pick up the air scrubber and, um, we are going to encapsulate the, the exposed wood or that the subfloors well, so I left that part out is what we’re doing tomorrow. Um, so we will, it’s almost like a painting of, of sorts to encapsulate, just ensure everything is taken care of. Even though when we do remove it, we treat it for mold. We have products that uh, kill mold and um, but we want to add another step that we want to do is encapsulate it to ensure everything is covered. So we will do that tomorrow. Um, not a huge project to do, um, encapsulation, but something that, uh, will get done and everybody will know that it’s been done and everything is safe and um, can move forward with the reconstruction of hardwood floors.

Um, so underside of the sub floor will be encapsulated as well. So that’s what’s in the crawl space there. So when this water damage number job, we will do, um, encapsulation on a couple of areas. So that will do it. It will be a generally about seven days, a little bit longer, but sometimes when you’re waiting on tests to come back, a work has to stop. And so that’s what happened on this, uh, job as well. We just kind of had to stop and wait until we get the test results back on the bone. So we, uh, got the results and move forward on this water damage Denver standard job. So if you have any other buckling floors or anything like that that you noticed in your house, um, it’s always something, usually something causing that slowly or something like that. Um, and we are, uh, willing to find out what causes that and take care of it for you. So if you need any other assistance, don’t hesitate to call big foot restoration and repair.
