We want to thank you for taking the time to look at our site. We are going to cover what happens during some water damage Denver issues in what we do when you do have a water loss within the home and what you can do to help prevent water loss as well as limit the damage that can occur from the water damage Danver. So with water, um, many things can occur when you have a water loss within the home. So first, um, if you come home and you find that you have a water loss in the house, um, you want to make sure power is off to that area of the home. Um, last thing you want to do is walk around and, and some wires can be exposed or anything like that. So we want to first cut the power to the home, um, and or to that area of the home.
So that’s number one. Number two, we want to try and, um, just first remove any items that could be sitting in water. Um, whether it’s just minimal amount of water or sometimes items can be floating within the home or an area of the home as well. So, uh, to limit damage to your, to your content, to your furniture, we want to try and, uh, maybe grab some of that furniture, move it to a dry area, preferably a garage, um, outside, something like that that can be safe. We don’t want to remove the items and put them on another part of, um, carpeted area or anything like that. We want to refrain from doing that. Um, just because of furniture can have wood, uh, on the bottom or wooden legs or anything like that and that can bleed onto the new or the dry carpets. So we don’t want to put anything that’s wet onto, on the carpet.
So that’s why we, we try first and say move to either patio or concrete or garage floor would be ideal. Um, so next thing, if you have any water damage Denver, um, issue is, uh, not try and do too much. Um, and you know, definitely if things are floating, you want to call somebody right away. And a lot of people can wait and they don’t know what to do. They try and call the insurance or anything like that. You first want to just call an expert, don’t worry about the insurance right away. Um, we want to limit the damage that can occur. So with that, um, with water, um, the longer it sits, it can then start to wick up the walls, the dry wall. Um, you know, if there’s wood floor or anything like that, damage, um, can start to occur pretty pretty quickly.
So we want to get an expert in right away. So we always recommend calling. Definitely if you have a water damage Denver calling, big foot restoration, but just somebody, um, preferably somebody who’s certified who provide services in the mitigation arena as well. So getting an expert out as quickly as possible. And that’s why with bigfoot restoration, we have a 90 minute guarantee that we will be at your residence within 90 minutes. Or if we’re not out there within 90 minutes, we pay you $10 per minute, which is a pretty cool little offer. And you know that we’re going to be there within 90 minutes. Sometimes it’s even, uh, you know, within 30 minutes, within 60 minutes. It all depends on how close you are, but definitely within 90 minutes we will be there.
So once we do arrive, um, and we, we assess the water damage Denver that you have, um, what we do, we have, uh, many pieces of equipment. The first we’ll cess more times than not, you know, what caused the damage. So if it was, you know, a broken pipe, sometimes there’s nails that go through pipes that, uh, can be sealed off right away. And then over time, even years, that nail will rust out and then you’ll recreate it, a leak there. Um, usually we’ll know pretty quickly what caused the leak. Hopefully we can, sometimes we do have to do some investigating, um, and see how the water either got within the home or how it flooded the house. So anytime we need to do this investigative work, we have the equipment necessary to find that. So, um, first thing we used as a water moisture meter.
And so that really gives us, um, if it’s on the carpet, it gives us a perimeter, how far it goes. Generally, water will travel, um, to the lowest point. So it may seem like, oh, it stops right here and this is as far as it goes. But with our moisture meter, we’re able to, to know for sure and chase that water. Um, and so we have a moisture meter that we can, uh, go around the carpet, get the perimeter and at least give us, uh, a wet point to a dry point and know where to begin. Um, if it, uh, if it’s more than just that in way, it’s whether it’s in ceilings or corners or anything like that. We use an infrared camera. Um, it’s a piece of equipment called a flir f. L I are, so if you have a water damage Denver, we can use this flower to really get a, an infrared camera, look at the walls and the ceiling.
So this will, will, will definitely show us, um, without having to cut into any walls or anything like that of knowing where the damage is. Um, how far it extends out, does it go down a wall? Um, everything like that. So sometimes, um, you, you do have to, sometimes walls are falling down and it’s that much moisture in it to where you can just put your hand through the wall. Um, but with this we’re able to see the water damage Denver pretty definitively and um, know to what extent, uh, we have to do to mitigate it. So, uh, with the infrared camera, um, we’re able to really get an idea in a lot of times you can then based on that, you know, this is right where the, the water damage occurred because it, um, it’s most severe in this area and it kind of as you fan out the damage or the, the amount of water gets less and less.
So it helps us then determine, uh, if we, if we don’t know where the water damages or where it’s coming in from or anything like that, um, with this camera we’re able to see that and we know exactly where it came in. So with these two pieces of equipment, 90%, 95% of all water damage Denver, um, jobs that we go to, we’re able to determine where it happened, um, and then we can move forward from that. So, so when our technicians arrived, that’s the first thing we will do is determine what happened. Um, if we need to call additional contractors, professionals, plumbers, um, we will do at that time, we will, if the leak is still occurring. So first thing we want to obviously do is stop that, that water. So sometimes we’ll have to shut off the water main, um, and repair the problem. So if it is a pipe that is broken, um, whether you have done it yourself or you need us to do it, we can then shut off that water main, repair it and then get your water back on. So, and then we will begin on the mitigation aspect of it. Um, so that’s how what we do initially when we go. And so from there, once we determine the water, let’s say we shut off the water main, we repair the problem, we turn that back on. Um, then we’ll assess and let you know how much
damage has occurred, what our process will then be to mitigate the problem. Um, we’ll make sure everybody’s on the same page. So whether we do have to then call your insurance, we would let you know. Ultimately it’s up to the, the homeowner, um, or the individual who had the water damage Denver.
Issue. If they want to file an insurance, we will then definitely give you a recommendation. Sometimes people may have a high deductible of 1000, $5,000 deductible and it may not warrant filing the insurance claim. So we’ll let you know. That’s generally why we, we ask that you have a south there first before you start calling your insurance cause even a call to an insurance company, um, even if you don’t file, um, puts a tag on your account that you had inquired or that your home had sustained a water loss. So, um, it gets a little funny with the insurance companies, but so at that time we will generally give you a rough estimate price wise of um, being that we’ve been doing this for many, many years, uh, we’ve seen pretty much everything. And so we understand, uh, what,
the cost generally will be. And so we will give you our recommendation on yes. Um, it’s going to be several thousand dollars. It’s worth filing an insurance claim or no, or costs in the cost of repair of walls or anything like that. May Not even reach your deductible. So that’s, it’s not worth even filing an insurance claim. So we will definitely give you our opinion on, on file to file or not to file or even to call or not. Um, so that’s what we can do to assess and help you out in that fashion as well. So we can look at that aspect. Second, once we’ve determined, um, you know, what caused the loss and we’ve stopped that. So, um, once we’ve, we’ve covered kind of the paperwork and you’ve signed off on work authorization, I’m giving us the ability to, to work in, in the legal ability for our company to work with in your home. Um, then we can go ahead and move forward with the mitigation aspect of it. So on the mitigation aspect, um, it can be as simple as pulling back, um, the carpet, removing the pad.
And putting the carpet back down. Generally we can save the carpet a high percentage of the time. We could save the carpet. I’ll cover
Areas where we can not say the carpet, but for the most part,
We can save the carpet. So it can be minimal. Is that, um, depending on what type of, um, loss or water damage Denver you have. Um, there’s different classifications of water. So, um, if it’s fresh water, meaning you had a clean pipe that, that maybe got a leak in it and that is fresh water, fresh, clean water, um, that’s had entered the home or, um, affected the area, uh, that classification, um, that carpet pad, all that can be saved. So we can then sometimes we don’t even remove the pad and we can save the, uh, the carpet, the pad, leave it in place, extract, uh,
carpet that has been affected there and dry everything out in place. So that’s a classification of a number one or category one. So, um, that definitely is, is the best kind you want to have. Um, and so we can definitely say both things. If you have a water damage Denver of a classification or a category one water damage. So, uh, the other type could be a water damage, Denver of a category two, which means if you had your toilet overflow, dishwasher leak. So these are categories of water that can have some, um, bacteria, some, um, issue with the water. So, um, when that occurs, we remove the pad. Um, no matter what. So, um, even if you know a dishwasher or anything like that can have some contaminants in the water. So we want to, our first concern is safety. And so we want to ensure that, um, the home is safe.
Um, so we don’t want to leave any contaminates in the carpet in the pad. So that’s why we, we go forward and we remove the pad. Now if drywall is affected either by Cla category one or two, um, that can dry in, that can be fine. We have abilities of drawing that out. Um, we will make the determination if the drywall is damaged to a point where it can’t be saved or we have to open it up in order to drive behind it. So, um, these are things that fortunately with our expertise in the water damage Denver Industry, uh, we can make the assessment now, we always try and be as conservative as we can in protecting the home. But our number one concern is safety, ensuring that everything is completely dried out, um, that we have access to everything that was affected by the water. So in some instances we do have to cut the dry, we have to open up cavities, we have to cut the ceiling, um, and remove that. So, but we do always, um, like I said work, we’re very conservative in what we do. Um, understanding that now with technology, I’m drawing abilities. We can dry things in place a lot more than what we used to. Um, the last thing, if you have a water damage, Denver is
a category three. Um, this classification of water damage is either a sewage, um, or maybe you had rainwater come in from outside through the ground, through a, a basement. Um, something like that. So category three, anything that, that water touches must be removed. So, um, meaning all, all carpet has to be cut out. That’s affected all pad, all drywall. So these have the most severe and in dangerous contaminants within the water,
obviously with sewage and everything like that. So we want to know that is the most destructive, um, and what we have to do to just truly get down to the framing of the home that, that touch. So, um, that is, we follow, all I see are CE certifications. If you have a water damage Denver issue that contains either category one, two, or three, um, but with the three, we do cut out everything. So, uh, there’s no saving on that. Um, even if you’re not filing an insurance claim, we have to follow our ICRC. Um, certification that we received in the, uh, an s five 20 handbook that we go by and it calls for us to remove everything. So whether it’s a category one, two, or three, whatever, if you had a, uh, water damage, Denver, um, if you call big foot restoration, we know what to do, how to do it, and definitely take care of you and, uh, and get you back to where you were pre loss condition. And that’s generally what a is our main goal as well. Safety’s number one, drying everything out, but get you back to normal. And generally that doesn’t take long drying out. We’ll take anywhere from three to five days, um, of everything. We check everything on a daily basis. So anytime you have a water damage, Denver, um, feel free to reach out to big foot restoration and we will certainly take care of you. Thank you.
